Conroe, TX Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Sec. 54-1 defines yard waste as grass, weeds, leaves, tree trimmings, plants and shrubbery prunings generated in maintaining residential yards and gardens, sized to fit in a collection cart; anything of a similar type too large for the cart is instead treated as bulky waste. Sec. 54-32(c) sets the operative collection rule: bulky waste, including furniture, appliances and other oversized items, is collected once each week, and large woody waste such as tree branches and limbs may be put out as bulky waste but must be bundled into lengths of four feet or less, with each bundle weighing a maximum of 40 pounds.

Loose yard waste that does fit inside the city-issued cart goes out with regular residential refuse under the standard weekly schedule; anything heavier or bulkier must follow the bundling limits or it is not eligible for the weekly bulky pickup. The cart itself is provided by the city under Sec. 54-32(a), with residential customers able to request extra carts, and a $2,000 chapter-wide penalty applies to unlawful waste disposal generally under Sec. 54-41. Construction debris, dead animals, hazardous waste and stable matter are all excluded from the yard waste and bulky waste categories and cannot be set out with residential refuse.
