Kokomo, IN Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 95.07(B)(3) is Kokomo's regular-pickup rule for yard waste: tree branches, brush, plant stalks, and shrubs qualify for the ordinary weekly route only if they are not more than four inches in diameter, are cut into pieces no longer than four feet, and are bound into bundles that weigh no more than 50 pounds each. Anything that does not meet those cuts and bundle limits falls under the general exclusion in division (B)(1): tree limbs or brush of exceptional size or weight, along with construction or demolition debris and more than one large item of furniture or appliance per week, are not collected as part of the regular route even if set out in an approved container.

Division (B)(2) defines "large" for these purposes as anything with a volume of more than one cubic yard, and leaves the Street Department to apply the exclusion reasonably. Residents whose brush or limbs are too big or too heavy for the bundled regular pickup are not left with no options: § 95.08(A) lets the Street Department collect that oversized yard waste for an additional charge, set by the Board of Public Works and Safety, when the necessary equipment and crew are available. That fee is paid to the City Controller's office and deposited in the general fund, the same billing path used for any other extra collection under Chapter 95.
