West Jordan, UT Building Safety: Electrical Permits (2026)

Section 10-1-6 adopts the entire 2014 edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC), as promulgated by the National Fire Protection Association, to govern the safe design, installation, and use of electrical systems within West Jordan. The city also adopts NEC Appendix C, the conduit and tubing fill tables used to size raceways for conductors and fixture wires of the same size. become part of city code automatically, without a separate city ordinance amending section 10-1-6. A certified copy of the adopted NEC is kept on file for public inspection at the City Recorder's Office, as required by Utah Code Annotated section 10-3-711.

Electrical work falls under the same enforcement structure as the rest of title 10, chapter 1: the Building and Safety Division inspects buildings and structures during construction, modification, or repair under section 10-2-1, and its enforcement officials may enter a property to verify code compliance, take photographs or samples as evidence, and, if the owner refuses entry, obtain a search warrant or suspend action on the electrical permit until the inspection can occur.
