Glynn County, GA Building Safety: Plumbing Permits (2026)

Section 2-5-71 adopts the 2006 edition of the International Plumbing Code with Georgia Amendments for the area of Glynn County outside Brunswick's city limits, again updating automatically with state amendments unless the Board of Commissioners deletes or modifies a portion. Section 2-5-72 extends that code to sanitary and storm drainage, venting, water supply piping, and the stormwater or sewerage connections serving any premises. Section 2-5-76(a) bars plumbing work before a permit issues, except for the minor-repair exemption in subsection (g), and every permit is completed in duplicate with a copy kept as a public record in the Building Official's office.

Section 2-5-76(b) generally limits permits to a Master Plumber holding a Georgia Certificate of Qualification, though subsection (c) lets a bona fide homeowner pull a permit to do the work personally on their own single-family residence. 00 for a variance or appeal application. Section 2-5-76(g) exempts repairs limited to the working parts of a faucet or valve, clearing stoppages, fixing leaks, or swapping a defective faucet or valve, as long as the piping itself is not changed.
