Height Limits
In Hanover County outside the Town of Ashland, the Zoning Ordinance caps ornamental fences and walls at four feet in any front yard and seven feet in a side or rear yard. A column or post attached to the fence can rise one foot above that limit. Corner lots also carry a three-foot sight-triangle restriction near the street intersection.
