Hanover County waives its usual landscaping, screening and thoroughfare-buffer rules for the Old Mechanicsville Turnpike commercial corridor and instead sets a flat ten-foot front setback, in Hanover County outside the Town of Ashland. The Mechanicsville Village Overlay District, created by Section 26-208, is the county's closest equivalent to a downtown design standard.
