Encampment Sanitation

Jefferson Parish bans camping, sleeping overnight, or storing belongings in any public area or on someone else's private property without written consent. Before removing a campsite, the parish must post a 24-hour notice listing shelter and services contacts, unless an officer finds an immediate health or safety threat, and any belongings left behind are held for 30 days before disposal.
