Anyone canvassing or peddling door to door in Jefferson Parish must first get a $2.00 permit from the Sheriff's Office sales tax division. Even permit holders can't knock between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. without a prior appointment, and breaking that curfew gets the permit revoked for good.
