Rodent Control

Jefferson Parish's Property Maintenance Code requires every structure and exterior property to stay free of rodent harborage and infestation. When rodents turn up, the owner or occupant must exterminate them through approved, non-injurious methods and then take precautions to stop the property from becoming a rodent harborage again.

Syringe Disposal

Diabetics, allergy patients, and anyone else using needles at home must seal used sharps in a lidded container before they go out with the trash. Jefferson Parish Code Sec. 16-106 lists acceptable containers, from commercial sharps boxes to sealed coffee cans, bans glass, and then lets a securely closed container go out with ordinary household garbage. Violating the article carries up to a $500 fine or 30 days in jail.
