Sidewalk Repair

Owners of property abutting a Jefferson Parish street must build, pave, and keep the adjoining sidewalk in repair at their own expense, including fixing uneven or broken sections and providing drainage so water does not pool on the walk. If an owner ignores a repair order, the department of public works can do the work itself and place a lien on the property.
