Yuma, AZ Environmental Rules: Vehicle Idling Restrictions (2026)

Section 212-11(A) prohibits standing, idling or parking a vehicle with a manufacturer's payload rating over one ton and a DOT gross vehicle weight rating of Class 3 or greater, plus tractors, semitrailers, trailers, buses, motor homes and RVs, for more than five consecutive minutes on a local or collector street in a residential zone. Residential deliveries are exempt while the vehicle is actually being loaded or unloaded. Subsection (B) gives moving vans, motor homes and RVs a longer window: they are exempt from the five-minute cap while loading or unloading but can never occupy a residential local or collector street for more than 48 hours total.

46. Subsection (D) allows service vehicles doing active commercial work on a residential property (landscaping, plumbing, electrical repair, parcel delivery, utility repair) to skip the five-minute limit but restricts them to no more than eight hours parked and bars overnight parking outright. Subsection (E) exempts buses run by public or private schools, or public transit serving Yuma County residents, from the whole section. S. §§ 28-1591 through 28-1601.
