Redondo Beach bans all fireworks. Unlike some California cities, it does not permit even State-approved 'Safe and Sane' fireworks. Possession, sale, use and discharge of any fireworks is prohibited citywide, the only exception being permitted professional displays such as the City's July 4th show.
Redondo Beach, served by the Redondo Beach Fire Department, bans fireworks under Municipal Code Title 3, Chapter 4, Article 3 (§ 3-4.301). The City's Fire FAQ states 'all fireworks including State approved shall be illegal in the City.' This expressly includes 'Safe and Sane' fireworks — the only consumer fireworks California allows, and only where a city permits them. Redondo Beach does not, so none may be bought, possessed or set off here. Fire and police officials may seize illegal fireworks on sight. The only lawful fireworks are professional displays under a Title 19 CCR permit, such as the City's barge-launched Fourth of July show.
Possessing, selling, using or discharging fireworks violates RBMC 3-4.301; fire and police may seize them on sight. Dangerous fireworks are also a misdemeanor under Health & Safety Code 12700: a $500–$1,000 fine and/or up to one year in jail.
