Home occupations in Laguna Niguel may not display any signs. Home Occupation Permit Form 210 prohibits signs, outdoor storage, parked customer vehicles, or any exterior evidence that a business is operating at the residence.
Under the home occupation standards in Laguna Niguel Zoning Code Section 9-1-35.10, as set out on Home Occupation Permit Form 210, there shall be no signs, outdoor storage, parked customer vehicles, or other exterior evidence of the home occupation. Neither the dwelling nor the lot may be altered in appearance so it looks other than a residence, in color, materials, construction, lighting, sounds, or vibrations. The activity may not create dust, noise, glare, or odors beyond that normal for residential purposes. Because the residence must present entirely as a home, no business identification or advertising signage is permitted. General sign rules appear in Zoning Code Subarticle 7, but the flat no-sign home occupation rule controls here.
Displaying a home business sign, keeping outdoor storage, or allowing parked customer vehicles violates the home occupation conditions. Form 210 provides that any violation causes the Home Occupation Permit to become null and void, exposing the resident to zoning enforcement.
