Frequently Asked Questions

Can I water my lawn during the day in summer in North Las Vegas?
No. NLVMC §13.08.050(A) bans irrigation by any method between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. every day from May 1 through August 31, regardless of which watering group you're in. Hand watering with a shut-off nozzle is exempt, but sprinklers and drip systems are not.
How do I find out which days I'm allowed to water?
The City assigns your address to one of up to seven watering groups under §13.08.050(B)(1) and notifies affected customers of their specific days. Seasonal frequency comes from Table 13.08.050A: once weekly in winter, three days a week in spring and fall, any day but Sunday in summer.
Are new lawns exempt from the watering schedule?
Partially. §13.08.050(C)(2) allows extra irrigation for 30 days after planting or reseeding a lawn, but only after notifying the Utilities Department Customer Service section, and the 11 a.m.-7 p.m. daily time restriction still applies during that establishment period.
