Fresno enforces a 72-hour street parking limit under Fresno Municipal Code 10-1102 and tows under California Vehicle Code 22651(k). FresGO requests are routed to Fresno PD Parking Enforcement, which marks tires and returns after 72 hours. Inoperable vehicles on private property fall under FMC 10-616 as a nuisance with a 10-day notice and possible city abatement.
Fresno Municipal Code 10-1102 prohibits any vehicle from being parked on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours. Reports are submitted through the FresGO app or by calling Fresno PD at (559) 621-7000. Officers mark a tire or note the wheel position, then return after the 72-hour window β if unmoved, the vehicle is towed under California Vehicle Code 22651(k). CVC 22651(o) provides an additional basis for tow when registration is expired more than six months. Vehicles classified as inoperable (missing tires, engine, plates, or otherwise unable to move under their own power) stored in driveways, yards, or other private property are addressed under FMC 10-616 and California Vehicle Code 22660, which authorize cities to abate them as a nuisance. Code Enforcement provides at least 10 days written notice and an opportunity to request a hearing before abatement. After a tow, the registered owner receives a Notice of Stored Vehicle within 48 hours; lien-sale procedures begin after 30 days.
Tow fees $185-$275, daily storage $40-$60, release fees. First-week recovery typically $350-$900. Failure to abate inoperable vehicles on private property results in administrative citations from $100 escalating to $500 per occurrence, and the city may abate and place a lien on the parcel.
