Lehi, UT Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Section 5-2-3(B)(22) of the Lehi City Code lists "improper parking or storage" as a nuisance in two parts. Subsection a covers "parking or storage of inoperative, unregistered, abandoned, wrecked or dismantled vehicles, boats, trailers or vehicle parts, including recreational vehicles, on a premises or in the public right of way," with a carve-out: storage the city's zoning ordinance specifically allows is not treated as a nuisance. Subsection b separately reaches "parking or storage of registered vehicles, trailers or boats in violation of city ordinance," so even a currently-registered car can be a violation if it is parked somewhere the code does not allow.

As with every listed nuisance in this chapter, the "responsible person" liable for correcting it includes the owner, agent, lessee or any occupant who causes or permits the condition under section 5-2-5, and every successive owner or tenant who fails to abate a nuisance a prior owner created remains responsible in the same way. Enforcement runs through the city's administrative code enforcement hearing program under section 5-2-6, the same track used for every other item on the chapter 5-2 nuisance list, rather than a separate towing statute.
