Lehi, UT Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Lehi City Code Chapter 8-8, the Residential Parking Permit Program, authorizes the city to establish preferential residential parking in designated areas balancing public safety, neighborhood concerns and general welfare (§ 8-8-2). Restricted areas are set by a council-adopted map: orange areas are 'no parking' zones and red areas are 'parking by permit only' zones (§ 8-8-5). when school is in session, tying the restriction to school traffic. Each residence in a red zone is eligible for two resident parking permits and one guest parking permit at no charge, issued at the Lehi City police department upon showing valid vehicle registration and proof of residence for a resident permit, or proof of residence alone for a guest permit; permits must hang from the rearview mirror (§ 8-8-7).

The city posts signs in permit areas warning that unpermitted vehicles may be towed (§ 8-8-8), and permit use is limited to the area immediately contiguous to the holder's residence with no guarantee of an available stall (§ 8-8-9). Enforcement under § 8-8-10 makes unpermitted parking, permit misuse (using a permit on a different vehicle than issued), and counterfeiting a permit all unlawful; violators may be ticketed, towed or booted at police discretion, with towed vehicles impounded until towing and storage costs are paid, and any violation may be prosecuted as a class C misdemeanor. The city can also revoke a permit outright and bar the resident from obtaining a new one for one year under § 8-8-11.
