Shoreline, WA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Shoreline adopted RCW 46.61.570 in full but locally amended subsection (1)(a) under § 10.05.030(E) to add item (xiii), a residential-street protection aimed squarely at oversized commercial trucks. The rule prohibits parking a commercial vehicle more than 80 inches wide overall on any arterial, street or alley located in a residentially zoned area as defined in SMC Chapter 20.40, Subchapter 1, and it extends to streets or arterials merely abutting a residential zone, not just those inside one. The overnight window runs from midnight to 6:00 a.m., leaving daytime commercial parking, loading and deliveries in residential areas untouched while targeting the hours when a wide truck is most likely to be left standing on a narrow residential street rather than actively working a job.

Because the restriction is keyed to the zoning map in Chapter 20.40, Subchapter 1, whether a given block qualifies depends on the zone classification (the R-4 through R-48 residential zones) rather than the street's own signage. A violation of this subsection is processed the same as any other Chapter 10.05 parking rule: § 10.05.035 makes it a parking infraction carrying a flat $50 monetary penalty, with a $25 delinquency penalty added if the fine is not paid or a hearing requested within the time printed on the citation.
