Shoreline, WA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 10.05.030(E) adopts RCW 46.61.570 in full but amends subsection (1)(a) and adds a new subsection (5) specific to Shoreline. The amended list bars stopping, standing or parking on the roadway side of a parked vehicle, on a sidewalk or planting strip, within an intersection or crosswalk, near a safety zone, alongside a street excavation, on a bridge, tunnel or elevated structure, on railroad tracks, in a divided highway's median crossover, anywhere signs prohibit it, within the same block to dodge a posted time limit, in a bicycle lane, in a transit-only lane except to turn right or yield to emergency vehicles, and within a dedicated turn lane, along with an unregistered vehicle parked in the right-of-way.

Shoreline added its own item (xiv): no parking directly adjacent to a curbside next to clearly visible residential mailboxes between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on any day of scheduled U.S. Postal Service delivery, protecting mail carrier access. New subsection (5) separately makes it unlawful to use a vehicle for human habitation, meaning sleeping, housekeeping or cooking, on or in any public right-of-way or parking area. Any violation of Chapter 10.05, including these stopping and standing rules, is treated as a parking infraction under § 10.05.035, carrying a flat $50 monetary penalty, with a $25 delinquency penalty added if the fine is not paid or a hearing requested by the deadline printed on the citation.
