Beaumont, CA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Beaumont Municipal Code § 10.06.010 reserves five curb colors for fixed uses within the City. Red means no stopping, standing or parking, whether the vehicle is attended or unattended, with one exception: a bus can stop in a red zone marked or signposted as a bus loading zone. Yellow allows stopping only to load or unload passengers or freight. White allows stopping to load or unload passengers or to deposit mail in an adjacent mailbox. Green marks time limit parking during the hours or times specified on posted signs. Blue is reserved exclusively for the vehicles of disabled persons and disabled veterans.

Section 10.06.015, added by Ordinance No. 1188 on September 2, 2025, gives the City Engineer authority to evaluate, designate and implement curb markings, including red, yellow and white. Each designation has to rest on traffic surveys or engineering studies conducted by or under the direction of the City Engineer, and a color change made under that authority is enforceable under the Beaumont Municipal Code and the California Vehicle Code. Section 10.04.010 separately provides that parking lanes and parking zones are designated by resolution of the City Council under Division 11 of the Vehicle Code.

Curb paint also connects to other chapters. Under § 10.36.010, a Class II bike lane must either be posted with No Parking signs or have the adjacent curb painted red. Under § 10.08.010, the Chief of Police can place signs or curb markings near intersections, railroad crossings, crosswalks, driveway entrances and fire hydrants after a traffic investigation. Section 10.08.101 has the City Council adopt parking penalties by resolution, published in the Citywide Fee Schedule under the Police Department Fee Section, and it expressly covers unauthorized parking in designated curb color zones and in front of community mailboxes.
