Beaumont, CA Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Beaumont Municipal Code § 10.08.050 says that, except as provided in Chapter 10.10, it is unlawful to park a vehicle within front yard or side yard open space areas and landscaped areas, including without limitation lawns and groundcover. The practical result is that a car has to sit on a paved driveway or other improved parking surface, not on turf or planting beds beside or in front of the house. Section 10.08.060 adds a second limit at the street: it is unlawful to park a vehicle on the unpaved portion of any City-owned right-of-way adjacent to the paved portion of a public street, which covers the dirt or landscaped strip between the pavement and the property line.

Chapter 10.10 is the exception the front yard rule points to, and it is narrow. Under § 10.10.040(C), a recreational vehicle or utility trailer can be stored within the front yard only if it sits on a slab of impervious material, such as concrete, brick or another type of all weather surface. Section 10.10.020(B)(2) repeats the surface requirement for utility trailers, barring them from the front yard setback unless on an approved all weather surface. Section 10.10.040(D) expressly prohibits storing a recreational vehicle or utility trailer, or any part of it, in, on or overhanging any public right-of-way, including a street, sidewalk or alleyway, so a trailer tongue cannot hang over the sidewalk.

Section 10.08.010 separately allows the Chief of Police to prohibit parking adjacent to either side of a driveway entrance for up to 25 feet from either side, which affects curb space right outside a driveway once signs or markings are placed.
