Grand Forks, ND Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

§ 8-0802(1) ties Grand Forks directly to state law: whenever a public or private agency designates a parking space for mobility-impaired drivers, the space must be indicated by blue paint on the curb or the paved edge adjacent to it, as North Dakota Century Code § 39-01-15 provides, and by a sign or other suitable marker stating that unauthorized use is a non-moving violation carrying a $100.00 fee. § 8-0802(2) lets a public or private entity reserve additional spaces temporarily for a particular event, marked by a sign rather than permanent paint. § 8-0802(3) bars any vehicle without a current disability certificate or insignia issued under Chapter 39-01 of the North Dakota Century Code, or by a government entity, from using a marked space, and § 8-0802(4) separately bars any vehicle, other than an authorized emergency vehicle, from blocking the ingress or egress lane next to one of these spaces. § 8-0802(5) puts enforcement in the hands of the Grand Forks Police Department in any parking lot or facility in the city, public or private, which means a violation on a private retailer's lot is enforced the same way as one on a city street.
