Grand Forks, ND Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

§ 8-0801(1) lists the places a vehicle may not stop, stand or park in the City of Grand Forks: on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, on a crosswalk, within 15 feet of a railroad crossing, alongside a street excavation that would obstruct traffic, on a bridge or in a tunnel, or anywhere official signs prohibit it. Subsection (L) adds a residential-intersection buffer of 50 feet from the point where extended curblines meet, widened to 60 feet along the service roads paralleling Columbia Road and several numbered avenues; subsection (O) separately bars parking in a front yard in a residential or university district except as the zoning code allows. § 8-0806 governs how a legally parked vehicle must sit: parallel to the curb, headed with traffic, curbside wheels within 12 inches of the edge, with a narrower exception for angle-parking zones and a midday loading window from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for delivery vehicles actually loading or unloading. § 8-0809 adds that parking on a berm or boulevard is prohibited outright except by council permission in a commercial district.
