Gardena, CA Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 10.28.170 authorizes the traffic authority to mark loading zones at any place in a business district or in front of the entrance to any business, hall or place of public assembly, but caps the total space reserved for loading at no more than half the curb length on any block. A loading zone is stenciled with a yellow paint line reading 'Loading Only'; a passenger loading zone gets a white paint line reading 'Passenger Loading Only,' per subsections C and D. Section 10.28.190 fixes how long a vehicle may use that space: permission to load or unload materials 'shall apply only to commercial vehicles' and to 'commercial deliveries and to the delivery or pickup of express and parcel post packages and United States mail,' capped at twenty minutes, while loading or unloading passengers and personal baggage is capped at three minutes.

Section 10.28.200 then makes it unlawful to stop, stand, or park in a yellow loading zone for any purpose other than that permitted loading or unloading within those time limits, and § 10.28.210 applies the same rule to white passenger loading zones. The city's general curb-color key in § 10.28.180 reinforces this: yellow curbs bar stopping, standing or parking between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. except for loading or unloading, and white curbs are limited to loading or unloading passengers or depositing mail. Because loading-zone violations sit in the traffic chapter, they are infractions under § 1.16.010(G), with the fine amount set by city council resolution under § 1.16.010(I).
