Gardena Municipal Code Chapter 10.60 regulates parking of recreational vehicles on public streets. Any RV parked on a Gardena street between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. must display a valid permit issued by the Gardena Police Department, and using a vehicle for human habitation overnight is prohibited.
Under GMC Chapter 10.60, no person may park a recreational vehicle (defined in GMC 10.60.020) on any city street between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. without a Gardena Police Department permit. Residents who own an RV must register it; the resident permit is valid two years and a guest permit two weeks, both issued free at 1718 W. 162nd Street. The chapter also makes it unlawful to use any motor vehicle for human habitation on a street, park, alley, or public way between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.; evidence of habitation includes sleeping, cooking, or setting up housekeeping. The general 72-hour street-parking limit in GMC Chapter 10.28 also applies to RVs and boat trailers.
Overnight RV parking without a permit, and using a vehicle for human habitation, are Municipal Code violations subject to citation, and the vehicle may be towed under the 72-hour rule.
