Gardena Municipal Code Chapter 10.28 governs stopping, standing, and parking on city streets. It caps continuous street parking at 72 hours, bans parking on sidewalks, parkways, and medians, and prohibits parking during posted street-sweeping days and hours.
GMC Chapter 10.28 is Gardena's core parking chapter. No vehicle may be parked on any street or alley for more than 72 consecutive hours; a vehicle exceeding that limit may be removed by the police under Vehicle Code Sections 22651(k) and 22500. The chapter bars parking any vehicle on a sidewalk, parkway, or median, and prohibits parking on streets during the days and times posted for street sweeping. It also prohibits parking a vehicle on a roadway, parkway, or public right-of-way for the principal purpose of washing, greasing, or repairing it, except for emergency repairs. Several neighborhoods are permit-only during posted hours under GMC 10.28.290. Statewide California Vehicle Code parking rules apply in addition to these local provisions.
Vehicles parked over 72 hours, on a sidewalk or parkway, or during posted street-sweeping hours are cited and may be towed.
