Medford, OR Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

100 delegates the state 'Road Authority' power under ORS 810 to Medford's Public Works Director, who bases decisions on traffic engineering principles, ODOT and State Transportation Commission standards, and recognized traffic control standards. Subsection (3) lists what the Director may do with that authority, and two clauses speak directly to loading: subsection (3)(d) lets the Director designate passenger loading zones for use in front of any hotel, auditorium, theater, church, school, or public building, and subsection (3)(e) lets the Director designate loading zones on each side of a block where required.

The Director implements those designations with official signs, markings and devices under subsections (3)(g) and (h), and no such regulation takes effect until adequate signs are erected. 330(6), which exempts a vehicle from the once-per-day time-limit calculation while it is loading or unloading in a designated loading zone. 100 also covers weight limits, bus and taxicab stands, and temporary or emergency regulations lasting up to 30 days, all installed and recorded in a public record the Director keeps as custodian under subsections (7) and (8).
