Huntington, NY Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Section TC4-3(B) of the Parking Fields chapter creates two tiers of preferential zones inside Schedule L parking fields. on any day except Saturday, Sunday and holidays without a valid resident-commuter permit; fields marked "commuter parking permit" impose the same weekday hours but accept any valid permit the Huntington Town Clerk issues, resident or not. Section TC4-11 sets the terms: a resident permit costs a non-refundable $75, requires proof of residency and current vehicle registration, and expires one year from issuance; a non-resident permit costs $150, requires the same proof, and runs for a year starting September 1 regardless of when it was bought.

Under § TC4-11(C), the Town Clerk must refuse a permit to anyone in violation of the chapter or other vehicle, traffic or parking laws. Once issued, § TC4-12 requires the permit to be affixed to the inside upper-left corner of the rear window, visible and removed once expired, and §§ TC4-13 through TC4-15 make the permit non-transferable, bar altering it, and void any unauthorized reassignment, holding both the original holder and the vehicle's owner strictly liable for misuse.
