Huntington, NY Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Chapter TC5, "Commercial and Construction Vehicles; Weight Limits," adopted its overnight ban at § TC5-2 in 2007. The section names a long roster of equipment barred from Town roads overnight and all Sunday: road rollers, tractor cranes, truck cranes, power shovels, road-building machines, snowplows, road sweepers, sand spreaders, well drillers, well-servicing rigs, tractor-trailer combinations, semitrailers, harvesting machines, self-propelled caterpillars, crawler-type equipment, moving vans, refuse-collection vehicles, tank-body vehicles, any other six-wheel-or-more vehicle with a truck-type chassis and body, and a "house coach" as defined in § 119 of the New York Vehicle and Traffic Law, which reaches motor homes and camper-type vehicles.

on weeknights and Saturdays and applies around the clock on Sundays, with no stated exception for loading, unloading or standby. It sits alongside § TC5-1, which excludes trucks and commercial vehicles over five tons, and all construction vehicles regardless of weight, from the specific streets and highways listed in Schedules M and O, subject to a carve-out in § TC5-1(C) for utility and municipal service vehicles making deliveries or performing necessary work. Because § TC5-2 is keyed to vehicle type rather than a general residential no-parking rule, an ordinary car, pickup truck or SUV parked overnight on a Huntington street is not covered by this section.
