These vehicles must be stored in compliance with setback requirements and may need screening from public view. The zoning ordinance prohibits using RVs as permanent dwellings on residential properties. Boats and trailers should be stored on paved or approved surfaces. The Department of Building and Zoning enforces compliance. Violations can be reported to violations.bnz@cookcountyil.gov. The zoning ordinance establishes different requirements based on the residential district classification (R-1 through R-5).
Zoning violation: $100β$1,000 fine per offense. Must comply within 30 days of violation notice. Each day is a separate offense.
