La Habra, CA Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Municipal Code § 18.12.090, titled 'House trailers, trailers, boats and airplanes,' regulates where these vehicles can sit in La Habra. Subsection B prohibits leaving or parking any house trailer, travel trailer, mobile home, airplane, boat, or mounted or unmounted camper on a public street or highway between one a.m. and six a.m. of any day, and bars parking on any public property at any time, except with special permission from the La Habra Police Department to allow loading or unloading, capped at forty-eight hours. Subsection C turns to private yards: no portion of a required front yard, or the side yard on the street side of a corner lot, may be used for permanent storage of motor vehicles, trailers, airplanes, boats, parts of any of these, garbage or trash receptacles, or building materials, except construction materials stored on site while a valid building permit is active.

The section defines permanent storage precisely as parking for seventy-two or more consecutive hours in that front or side yard, and requires at least forty-eight hours to elapse between one storage period and the next. Subsection A separately makes it unlawful to occupy a house trailer for living purposes outside a licensed trailer park, though a conditional use permit can authorize temporary living occupancy for up to twelve months when incidental to an approved primary use, subject to planning commission site plan review. Community Development and the Police Department jointly enforce these limits.
