Pocatello, ID Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

Section 10.08.160 gives the mayor, or the council president if the mayor is unavailable, authority to declare a snow removal proclamation once accumulated snowfall on public streets is enough to threaten the health, safety, and welfare of residents and require large scale removal operations. The proclamation must set a specific date and time the restrictions take effect and how long they last, and the restrictions cannot take effect until the public has had adequate notice: no sooner than 8:00 A.M. the day after the proclamation runs in the official newspaper, or twelve hours after it airs on a radio or television station reaching a general audience in the city.

Once in effect, § 10.08.170 bars parking on dozens of named streets and segments across the city, from Alameda Road between Hyde and Hawthorne to Yellowstone Avenue, in addition to the streets already restricted under the designated-streets rule at § 10.08.130 and the night parking rule at § 10.08.140. Section 10.08.180 backs the proclamation with an impound penalty: any vehicle illegally parked on a designated street during the prohibited times may be removed by the police department and impounded, with the towing and storage costs charged to the owner or operator, on top of any parking violation notice issued under § 10.08.190.
