San Clemente prohibits stopping or standing in parkways and no-parking areas marked by signs or red curb paint, requires vehicles to stay within marked spaces, and enforces the state 72-hour street-storage limit citywide.
SCMC 10.28.020 bans stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle within any parkway. Under SCMC 10.28.040, no parking is allowed where red curb paint or signs designate no-parking or traffic-hazard zones, within fire lanes, or near crosswalks and traffic signals. SCMC 10.28.045 makes it unlawful to park against any restriction shown by posted signage or curb markings. Where the City Traffic Engineer paints parking-space markings (10.28.210), a vehicle must park within a single marked space unless its size makes that impossible. Diagonal and one-way street parking must follow SCMC 10.28.190 and 10.28.200. Beach, pier, and downtown areas use metered and preferential permit zones under SCMC 10.28.260.
Parking in a marked no-parking area, across a marked space, or against posted restrictions is a Municipal Code infraction subject to citation and fines; unpaid or repeat violations can lead to towing.
