San Clemente has no blanket overnight ban on standard cars, but oversized, wide, commercial, and recreational vehicles face nighttime street restrictions, and beach and downtown lots and preferential zones limit overnight parking by sign.
There is no general citywide overnight parking prohibition for ordinary passenger vehicles on residential streets in San Clemente. However, SCMC 10.28.230(A) bars wide vehicles from parking between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. on cul-de-sacs and narrow streets, and 10.28.230(B) bars commercial vehicles from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. except for active loading. RVs, trailers, and boats are limited to four hours anytime under 10.28.230(C). Specific public right-of-way areas, such as parking dedicated to Max Berg Plaza Park and the Municipal Golf Course lot, carry posted overnight bans (10:00 p.m.-6:00 a.m.). Beach and downtown metered lots and preferential permit zones set their own hours under SCMC 10.28.245 and 10.28.260.
Overnight parking of a restricted vehicle, or parking in a posted overnight-restricted lot or permit zone without authorization, is a citable Municipal Code infraction; oversized vehicles may also be towed.
