Section 24-104(1) sets the general standards every temporary sign in the city must meet, and a homeowner's garage sale sign qualifies as a temporary sign since the code creates no separate category for it. Single-faced temporary signs must be affixed to a building wall, the interior face of a window, a fence, or another structure, while double-faced temporary signs must be freestanding unless the code specifies otherwise.
