Utah Statewide Fireworks Discharge Dates and Times

Utah preempts local rules on the timing of fireworks discharge. Class C state-approved consumer fireworks may be discharged only between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m. on July 2-5 (extended to midnight on July 4), July 22-25 (extended to midnight on July 24), New Year's Eve (11 a.m. December 31 to 1 a.m. January 1), and Chinese New Year's Eve (11 a.m. to 1 a.m.). Cities and counties may prohibit fireworks only in mapped fire-hazard zones documented under Utah Code 11-3-8, and must publish those maps. Outside hazard zones, local bans inconsistent with statewide dates are preempted under 53-7-225.

Discharging outside permitted dates, times, or in posted hazard areas is an infraction; reckless burning causing damage is a misdemeanor under Utah Code 76-6-104.
