Full Breakdown

Under AMC 15.110.040, regular trash containers can only go out the morning of collection and must come back in by 9:00 p.m. that same day. Locked bear-resistant containers get a slightly longer leash, out up to 12 hours before collection day, still in by 9:00 p.m. the day of pickup. When a cart isn't out for collection, it has to live inside a structure or within five feet of the main building, and nothing unsecured can sit in the right-of-way or yard setback. Temporary construction dumpsters are exempt from the storage and retrieval-time rules.

Violations & Fines

Municipal Maintenance & Operations (solid waste) can cite the property owner; each day out of compliance counts as a separate violation under 15.110.060, with a fine set under 14.60.030.
