Lynwood residents get free bulky-item collection from the city's franchise hauler, limited to 5 items per pickup. Pickups are scheduled by phone; large or heavy items may not be placed in carts and illegal dumping is prohibited.
Per the City of Lynwood, residents are eligible for free 'Bulky Item' collection through the franchise hauler, limited to 5 items per collection. Residents schedule a free pickup by calling 888-467-7600 (WM Lynwood service is (310) 366-7600). Eligible items include furniture, appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, washers, and water heaters, wood and yard waste, clothing, and electronics such as televisions and computers. LMC Section 3-28.2 defines a 'bulky item' as discarded furniture, carpets, mattresses, household or industrial appliances, or any object exceeding the size or weight the franchise hauler allows in a cart. Bulky items must go through the collection service: Section 3-28.3 makes it unlawful to leave them on streets, alleys, or private property except in designated containers.
Setting out more than the 5-item limit, or leaving bulky items at the curb, in alleys, or on lots without scheduling collection, is illegal dumping under Section 3-28 and subject to criminal, civil, or administrative penalties plus cleanup costs.
