Ramapo, NY Trash & Recycling: Bulk Item Disposal (2026)

Ramapo Code § 235-2 defines TRASH to include discardable household items of a durable nature, such as furniture and large household appliances including refrigerators, so long as their doors have been removed, plus washing machines, dryers, dishwashers and window air conditioners, as well as tires bearing a Town tire removal sticker and motor vehicle parts under 60 pounds. Section 235-3B(3) sets the placement rule specifically for these bulk items: furniture and large household appliances must be placed at the street curb, but property owners are required to schedule that placement with the Department of Public Works before setting the items out, unlike routine garbage, trash, recyclables, cardboard and yard waste, which follow the standing curbside schedule without a separate call-in.

Tires require a Town of Ramapo tire removal sticker, purchased at the Town Clerk's office, affixed before curbside pickup. Materials left over from home improvement or remodeling projects and demolition or new-construction debris are excluded from this bulk trash definition and are not eligible for the same curbside program.
