Stonecrest, GA Trash & Recycling: Collection Schedule (2026)

DeKalb County, not the City of Stonecrest, physically runs residential trash collection under a contract described in § 22-27, which requires the county to divide the city into numbered pickup routes, map them, and keep the route maps and street lists available for public inspection and copying at actual reproduction cost. The collection frequency itself is set in § 22-30(b)(1): refuse is collected twice each week from residential units, with an exception for exceptionally large piles of limbs that take longer to load. Commercial establishments get more frequent service, up to six times a week, under § 22-30(b)(2).

On the resident's side, § 22-28(5) sets the placement window: refuse, watertight bags, and tied bundles must be at the curb at or before 8:00 a.m. or before the sanitation truck arrives, whichever comes first, but placement cannot happen before 5:00 p.m. the day before collection. Anything set out after the pickup crew has already passed sits at the owner's own risk, and § 22-28(6) requires the resident to pull containers back from the curb to storage by 7:00 p.m. the same day they are emptied.

Collection can be suspended under § 22-30(b)(4) if a can or container is inadequate or has been condemned as unfit and the owner has been notified but has not fixed it. Residents who are disabled, per § 22-31(a), can skip curbside placement entirely with a physician's certificate on file with the Director, so long as every resident of the unit is disabled.
