Stonecrest, GA Trash & Recycling: Dumpster Rules (2026)

Stonecrest Code Sec. 22-57 controls how stationary compactors and dumpster-style containers get installed at commercial properties in the City. Before a licensed commercial sanitation firm can put a stationary compactor unit in the ground, its plans and specifications have to be approved by DeKalb County, since the County licenses and regulates the sanitation firms that service these units under Article III of Chapter 22. Once approved, the physical installation standard is specific: stationary compactor shredders and stationary compactor containers must sit on Class A, 3,000 psi concrete pads that are not less than six inches thick, and every installation has to comply with the County's mechanical code, fire code and health regulations on top of that pad specification.

This sits alongside Sec. 22-56, which separately requires each stationary compactor and industrial waste container to carry a conspicuous decal proving it is permitted to operate in the County, along with the servicing firm's name, phone number and address, so an unmarked or improperly poured unit is out of compliance on two fronts at once. Firms operate under a County license (Sec. 22-52) and post a performance bond (Sec. 22-53) before they can place containers at all.
