030(5)(e), covering screening of commercial loading docks and refuse areas, requires that loading docks and refuse storage areas be screened from public view, from adjoining public streets and rights-of-way, and from residentially zoned areas, using screening materials architecturally compatible with the rest of the site's colors, materials, and architectural style; it also flatly states that all dumpsters shall be closed when not in use. The designated approving authority may grant an exception through development review for sites with unique characteristics, such as a shallow lot depth or adjacency to a single-family home.

Subsection (5)(f), screening of trash enclosures and recycle containers, goes further for the containers themselves: trash receptacles, including recycling and green waste containers, cannot be stored in a required front or street side yard, and must be screened from the public right-of-way by a solid fence not less than four feet high, though the approving authority may waive the fence-height standard to ensure proper placement and screening.
