The section then scales minimums by building type: three- or four-unit apartment buildings need at least a one cubic-yard container serviced twice weekly per unit; five- or six-unit buildings need at least a two cubic-yard container twice weekly; buildings of seven or more units need the greater of a three cubic-yard container twice weekly or one-half cubic yard per unit weekly; mobile home parks without individual curbside service need one-half cubic yard per lot weekly; and motels need one-fifth or one-tenth cubic yard per room weekly depending on how many rooms have cooking facilities.
A place of business or public building that can be served by no more than two ninety-six-gallon mobile containers must have at least one and no more than two of them; larger generators must step up to cubic-yard dumpster service sufficient for their volume. 120 to provide enough container capacity for all the solid waste actually generated on the premises.
Violations & Fines
Operating with less than the minimum required dumpster or container service under § 8.20.160, or with an unmarked non-residential container missing the owner's name and phone number, is enforceable as a Chapter 8.20 misdemeanor under § 8.20.370: up to a $1,000 fine, up to six months in jail, or both, with each day of noncompliance a separate offense. A non-residential customer that repeatedly overflows an undersized dumpster is also subject to a separate overflow charge under § 8.20.220 once written notice has been given and a second overflow follows within 90 days.
