City Code § 86-130 lists three fixed holidays on which the city's contractor does not collect: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, plus any other day every city-approved, Florida Department of Environmental Protection permitted disposal facility happens to be closed. For ordinary residential and commercial curbside or alley service, a missed holiday pickup simply rolls to the next regularly scheduled collection day rather than being skipped for the week. Front-load and roll-off customers work on a tighter clock: their rescheduled pickup has to land either the day before or the day after the holiday, not on the next regular route day, because those routes run on compactor schedules rather than the twice-weekly residential cycle.

Any change to the published holiday schedule itself, as opposed to an individual customer's pickup day, has to go through the same 30-day advance application and city representative approval process that governs every other placement or timing variance under this article.
