Conway, AR Trash & Recycling: Recycling Requirements (2026)

Conway Municipal Code § 5.04.08 folds curbside recycling into the same bagging rule that governs regular trash: all loose waste material placed in the city's carts must be properly bagged or boxed so it cannot blow out of the container, and the section states this requirement applies to all trash items collected in both the green and blue waste receptacles the city uses for pickup. A resident who leaves loose, unbagged material in either cart gets one warning notice from Sanitation personnel; a repeat violation is referred to City of Conway Code Enforcement, and the resident becomes subject to being fined for littering rather than getting a second warning.

Section 5.04.22, the landfill charge schedule, separately spells out that the city assesses no charge for recycling, listed as item 8 in a list of landfill fees that otherwise charges for commercial and residential dumping; recycling is the one waste category on that list carrying no fee at all, keeping the cost of the blue and green cart program inside the standard monthly sanitation bill rather than a per-load landfill charge. Faulkner County residents outside the city limits use a separate fee structure and are not covered by this free-recycling provision, which applies specifically to material handled through the City of Conway's own landfill and Sanitation Department.
