Lawton, OK Trash & Recycling: Recycling Requirements (2026)

Section 7-33-1-3302(A) makes it unlawful to place or allow to be placed any recycling bin outside of a building within the city limits without first obtaining a business license from the city's licensing agent. Section 7-33-1-3302(B) requires the license application to include a site plan showing the bin's location relative to property lines, easements, parking areas and buildings, plus the property owner's written permission stating the owner's name, the dates the property may be used, and to whom permission is granted, signed and dated by the owner.

Once approved, Section 7-33-1-3302(C) requires the city to issue a decal for the front upper right corner of the bin showing the license's expiration date and a unique tracking number. Section 7-33-1-3302(D) exempts a bin from the license requirement only if it sits on private property the operator owns or controls and is tied to that operator's own permanent business on the same property, or if the bin is sponsored by or under contract with the city and sits on public property; even an exempt bin still must follow the physical siting standards of Section 7-33-1-3304. 50 per bin under Article A-7-33.
