Hutto, TX Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Article 24.03 (Solid Waste) of the Hutto Code of Ordinances handles yard debris as part of residential refuse collection. Section 24.03.004(c) requires residents to set containers at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on collection day, and treats yard debris as 'ordinary accumulations of rubbish': tree limbs, paper boxes and scrap lumber that won't fit in a container must be tied or stacked in compact bundles, with tree limbs cut to no more than three feet long and six inches in diameter, while leaves and grass clippings must go in containers or plastic bags.

Heavier accumulations fall under section 24.03.011: subsection (a) puts brush, dead trees, or tree limbs longer than three feet or thicker than six inches in the 'disposal of bulky, heavy materials' category, to be handled at the owner's expense, and subsection (c) makes clear that debris from a hired tree-trimming or pruning job is the responsible party's expense, not a regular city service. Subsection (d) creates a distinct storm-recovery service: on the owner or occupant's written request, the city will attempt to remove tree trimmings or brush debris caused by storm damage if it is placed in or adjacent to the street right-of-way, charging a minimum fee from the fee schedule in Appendix A, plus an additional charge for each five-minute increment beyond the first five minutes of on-site crew time. Open burning of yard waste in barrels or pits is separately banned under section 24.03.009.
