La Grange, MO Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

La Grange City Code § 235.090(A)(3) makes burning solid waste unlawful unless the burner uses an approved incinerator and has obtained a variance from the appropriate air pollution control agency, and that clause states the incinerator-and-variance requirement does not apply to yard wastes. The same section then closes with a separate, freestanding sentence stating that the Section prohibits the burning of yard wastes in order to protect human health and the local environment, so the operative rule that survives in the printed Code is a ban on burning yard waste, not an unrestricted exemption.

Section 235.120 defines YARD WASTES as leaves, grass clippings, yard and garden vegetation and Christmas trees, expressly excluding stumps, roots, or shrubs with intact root balls, which fall instead under demolition/construction waste or bulky rubbish depending on their source. Yard waste is also carved out of the general SOLID WASTE definition in § 235.120, so it is not swept into the ordinary weekly collection or container rules of §§ 235.010 and 235.040; the Code does not print a separate City-run yard waste pickup service, leaving disposal to the property owner subject to the burning restriction.

Dumping yard waste at an unapproved facility remains barred under § 235.090(A)(4), which forbids dumping solid waste at any location not approved by the Department of Natural Resources.
