Waynesville, MO Trash & Recycling: Yard Waste Collection (2026)

Section 220.010 of the Waynesville Municipal Code defines yard wastes narrowly as grass clippings, leaves and tree trimmings, a category folded into the broader definition of solid waste alongside garbage, ashes, rubbish and demolition debris. Section 220.020 sets the storage rules: yard waste must sit in containers built and maintained so nothing disperses onto the served premises, adjacent property, or an adjacent public right-of-way, and the combined weight of any individual yard-waste container and its contents cannot exceed seventy-five (75) pounds. Tree limbs under four inches in diameter and brush get a separate rule when they are not bagged in a storage container: they must be securely tied into bundles no larger than forty-eight (48) inches long and eighteen (18) inches in diameter, and each bundle is likewise capped at seventy-five (75) pounds.

Section 220.030 controls when that bundled material actually gets picked up: tree limbs and brush are collected only during the semi-annual clean-up periods the City schedules, not on the regular weekly collection day that applies to bagged residential solid waste. Any solid waste container, including one holding yard waste, that does not meet the Chapter's requirements can be collected along with its contents and disposed of by the City. The City Administrator or a designated representative administers the collection schedule and can inspect storage compliance under Section 220.060, and a person aggrieved by a violation notice may appeal in writing to the City Council through the City Clerk within ten days.
