Moore, OK Animal Ordinances: Veterinary Clinic Zoning (2026)

Chapter 9-15 of the Moore Code of Ordinances, adopted by Ordinance 970(21) on June 7, 2021, sets out which trades a resident may and may not run from a house. Sec 9-1502 permits home-based work such as tutoring, sewing, small appliance repair and animal grooming limited to two pets, but the same section flatly excludes a veterinary clinic or hospital from the list of allowed home occupations, grouping it with other uses the city treats as too intensive for a residential neighborhood, including auto repair shops, upholstering, machine shops, mortuaries and restaurants.

The distinction matters because Moore's home occupation standards otherwise let residents run a business inside up to 10 percent of a dwelling's floor area without a separate commercial permit; a veterinary practice does not qualify for that path at all and instead needs a location and use approved under the city's Land Development Code for veterinary or animal-care uses. Sec 9-1503 confirms that any person operating a use contrary to Chapter 9-15 is in violation regardless of how the property is otherwise used, and Sec 9-1504 gives the Community Development Director authority to act on complaints, review the operation, and order it to cease if it does not conform to the chapter, with appeal rights to the Board of Adjustment.
